Meet Samuel Biagioli!

​

Background:

Sam has been tutoring mathematics and physics courses for 7+ years. He graduated Magna Cum Laude (and in the top 5% of his class) from Appalachian State University, with a Bachelor's degree in Physics and a minor in Mathematics.

 

Sam began his tutoring career in the Appalachian State University Tutoring Center, where he tutored math up to Calculus 2, and physics up to college honors physics 2. Over his 4 years, he grew his répertoire of courses and became increasingly effective as a tutor and mentor. During his last 2 years at App State, Sam also took on a leadership role on Team Sunergy, a team that designs, builds, and races fully solar-powered vehicles.  After graduation, Sam worked as a Process Engineer in the semi-conductor industry for about 3 years, but soon felt the need to get back to helping people succeed in their academic adventures.

For the past 3 years, Sam has been working as an online professional tutor for a boutique test prep company. During this time, he has tutored for thousands of hours and helped hundreds of students achieve their goals in their relative subject areas. He has helped many students score a 5 on their AP Calculus and AP physics exams and reach 99th percentile scores on both the SAT and ACT. In addition to achieving set goals, He has worked assiduously to build strong bonds with students and families; he holds an overall score of 9.7 out of 10 for customer satisfaction.

Teaching Philosophy:

Sam believes that learning should be an exciting journey rather than a daunting task. The approach involves breaking down complex concepts into digestible pieces, creating a comfortable space for students to ask questions and explore the wonders of math and physics. The goal is not just to pass exams but to cultivate a genuine understanding and appreciation for the subjects.

Passions:

Outside of academics, Sam developed a passion for appropriate/sustainable technology and discovering creative solutions to challenging problems. During his time at Appalachian State University, Sam fervently joined the Solar Vehicle Team (Team Sunergy). Sam served a critical role as the Assistant Electrical Director of Team Sunergy for 2 years where he helped lead graduate and undergraduate students in designing, building, and racing a fully solar-powered vehicle. Sam still looks for interesting ways to apply the valuable skills he learned in this role, and loves finding opportunities to incorporate these concepts in sessions.

Innovation in Tutoring:

Embracing technology, Sam integrates interactive online tools and simulations to make learning engaging and accessible. Recognizing the challenges of standardized tests, there's a focus on practical strategies for mastering the SAT and ACT, providing students with tools they can use beyond the classroom.

Known for a friendly and patient demeanor, Sam fosters a strong rapport with students. The tutoring sessions are collaborative, and Sam encourages students to bring real-world problems they'd like to solve, weaving them into the lessons for a personalized and relatable experience.

Hobbies:

Outside of tutoring, Sam enjoys a variety of sports, outdoor activities, DIY projects, and writing music. This well-rounded set of interests contributes to a relatable and down-to-earth persona, making it easy for students to connect on various levels.
